Chicago, IL – The University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team placed seventh at the Windy City Invitational Saturday, hosted by the University of Illinois-Chicago. The Hawkeyes scored a team total of 331.750, while Stanford won the meet with 354.450 total team points.
The Windy City Invitational was the first meet for Iowa that used the new judging guide. This new guide will be the system used for the 2008 summer Olympics.
In his first competition as a Hawkeye, freshman Ben Ketelsen tied for third in the all-around, scoring 82.450. Ketelsen also placed 10th on the vault with a 15.500. Geoff Reins placed third on vault with a score of 16.200 and tied for sixth on floor exercise with a 15.050. Jonathan Buese tied for fifth on the horizontal bar with a score of 14.350.
Iowa will be back in Chicago January 26 to compete against the University of Illinois-Chicago. Competition will begin at 5:00 p.m.
