Feb. 13, 2008

IOWA CITY —

The Iowa baseball team will appear at least four times on the Big Ten Network (BTN) this spring. The schedule will feature two UI home games and one road doubleheader.

Iowa’s first appearance on the BTN will be on Tuesday, April 8, against the 2007 NCAA Tournament qualifying Nebraska Cornhuskers at Duane Banks Field. Nebraska, who split a pair with Iowa last season, will come to Iowa City for a 6 p.m. start.

The Hawkeyes will be televised again on Saturday, April 12, in a doubleheader against the Hoosiers in Bloomington. The Black and Gold swept Indiana in 2007. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. (CST)

Iowa’s final regular season game on the BTN will be on Friday, May 2, against the Minnesota Gophers at Duane Banks Field. The Gophers finished second in the Big Ten last season. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.

About the Big Ten Network: In August 2007, the Big Ten launched the Big Ten Network, a national network devoted to Big Ten athletic and academic programs. Available to all cable and satellite providers nationwide, with most programs offered in stunning high-definition television (HDTV), the network will allow fans to see their home teams, regardless of where they live.

The Big Ten Network showcases football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, a nightly studio show, classics and coaches shows, along with more Olympic sporting events exposure than has ever been aired on any other network. Fans can expect to see an average of five Hawkeye baseball games each season on the Big Ten Network. All games will be broadcast in high-definition.
