WAYZATA, MN – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished the first round at the Golden Gopher Invitational today. Iowa recorded an 18-hole score of 299 (+11) on the day and is currently in seventh. Texas leads with a 282 (-6).
Freshman Chris Brant led the Hawkeyes today. The freshman is tied for 14th after recording an 18-hole score of 73 (+1). Senior Cole Peevler finished the day tied at 23rd with a 74 (+2). Also, sophomore Vince India shot a 75 (+3) and is currently in a tie for 29th. Sophomore Brad Hopfinger is standing in a tie for 40th after shooting a 77 (+5). Additionally, freshman Barrett Kelpin finished the day with an 82 (+10), which put him in a tie for 60th.
“After a slow morning, we’re glad with where we’re at,” said Head Coach Mark Hankins. “We just need to come out tomorrow, play golf, and get better.”
The Hawkeyes will continue play at the Golden Gopher Invitational tomorrow at 8 a.m.
