Hawkeyes Finish Day One At Big Ten Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished day one of the 2009 Big Ten Championships Friday in fifth place with a 36-hole score of 582 (+14). Ohio State leads the tournament after recording a 579 (+11). Competition is being held on the Penn State Blue Course in University Park, PA.

Freshman Barrett Kelpin and sophomore Vince India are in a tie for 15th place, and currently leading the Hawkeyes, after carding a score of 146 (+4). Senior Cole Peevler shot a 148 (+6) and is sitting in a tie for 28th. Sophomore Brad Hopfinger is in 35th with a 36-hole total of 150 (+8). Additionally, freshman Chris Brant recorded a 151 (+9) and is tied at 41st.

“I’m pleased with our continued focus throughout the afternoon round,” said Head Coach Mark Hankins. “Each guy contributed individually today which resulted in two solid team scores.”
