IOWA CITY — With only three days rest, University of Iowa senior pitcher Zach Robertson earned the Rochester Honkers their fifth Northwoods League championship Sunday. The southpaw went six strong innings, allowing only one run on three hits. The Honkers captured the title with a 7-4 triumph over the LaCrosse Loggers.
“Zach had an outstanding summer throwing the ball and leading his team to the championship,” said Iowa Head Coach Jack Dahm. “We are proud of his accomplishments and look forward to him having a terrific senior season.”
Robertson extended his league-best career strikeouts record to 266 following Sunday’s outing. Also, the championship start extended his record-breaking total to 37 starts. The Des Moines native ended the summer season with a 7-3 record and compiled a 2.57 ERA with 95 strikeouts.
