Hawkeyes Face DMACC Friday

Sept. 28, 2009

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa baseball team has announced its fall schedule, which includes two home games at Duane Banks Field.

“The fall schedule is a good opportunity for our players to play some outside competition,” Head Coach Jack Dahm said. “At this point, they’ve had four to five weeks of practice and intrasquad. It is always refreshing to play some other teams and give our new guys some experience.”

The Hawkeyes open with an intrastate contest against Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. The following Friday the Black and Gold will host Iowa Central, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m.

“Both teams are quality opponents with some outstanding players,” Dahm said.

DMACC finished 2009 as the region XI DII champions. Iowa Central has qualified for seven NJCAA II World Series’ since 1996, which is the school where pitcher Zach Robertson and outfielder Ryan Durant played prior to signing with Iowa.
