IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Head Women’s Tennis Coach Katie Dougherty has announced that Christina Harazin has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa in 2010. The Indian Head Park, IL, native has committed to join the Iowa tennis program next fall.

“Tina is a tremendous addition to the Iowa tennis program,” said Dougherty, in her first year at the Iowa helm. “She’ll make an immediate impact on both our singles and doubles lineups. Her work ethic, character and competitiveness are the ingredients we need to build a successful tennis program.”

Harazin is a four-time all-conference and all-state honoree. She was named team MVP in 2009 after winning the conference tournament and placing third at the Illinois state meet. She began receiving national recognition as a sophomore in 2007. During her junior season in 2008, she cracked the USTA National and TennisRecruiting.net top 100 rankings. In 2009, Harazin climbed to No. 61 on the TennisRecruting.net national list.

“Tina has a very good understanding of the game and how to construct points with her strengths,” said Dougherty. “Her game is going to thrive in college.”
