Hawkeyes Prepare to Make Some Noise

Feb. 18, 2010

Iowa tennis fans will be able to follow members of the Hawkeye tennis team as they blog about the 2010 season . The Iowa student-athletes will discuss the Hawkeyes’ upcoming matches, road trips and what it’s like being a student-athlete at the University of Iowa. Junior Lynne Poggensee-Wei is this week’s designated blogger.

IOWA CITY, IA – Our most recent trip to Kansas was a very successful one. On Saturday, we came out on top against Kansas State with a 7-0 victory. On Sunday we defeated KU, 6-1. I think everyone was pleased with how the weekend went.

We left Kansas with two tough wins and some more insight into Coach Dougherty. Apparently she really enjoys talk radio (no word on the country music). I did hear that they got to listen to The Delilah Show on the way home though. I’m not sure which they were more excited about. Luckily, I was in Mira’s car! I am personally not a fan of music on the radio, so I actually don’t know what was on the radio in our car. I listen to my iPod with the volume just high enough where I can’t hear anything else that is going on.

This week has been very short. We only have four days between matches, so we have to get right back to business. Marquette on Friday and Iowa State on Sunday. Let’s practice those “Go Hawks!” Here’s the thing: we love it when you all come to our matches, but we would love it even more if we heard a ton of cheering. Let’s see how loud we can be this weekend. There is no such thing as too much energy when it comes to sports. We want to come out of this weekend just like last weekend: 2-0! Go Hawks!
