Isenberg won the first match of the afternoon with a 13-9 decision over redshirt freshman Matt Gurule at 133. The Trizzino brothers followed with wins in the next two bouts, with Nick pinning redshirt freshman Charlie Joseph in 2:13 at 141, and Joey scoring a 14-0 major decision over senior Stew Gillmor at 157. DuCharme ended the first round of wrestle-offs with a takedown in overtime to beat freshman Patrick Rhoads, 6-4, at 157.
The Hawkeyes are scheduled to hold 12 matches Friday at 4:15 p.m. and eight matches Saturday at 8:45 a.m. at the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
