Bobbleheads, T-Shirts and USA Wrestling on Deck

IOWA CITY, Iowa— University of Iowa and USA wrestling fans are encouraged to arrive early at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Friday. They’ll be able to pick up their Olympic Trials promotional items and watch the United States women’s national team perform a freestyle wrestling demonstration before Iowa’s 7 p.m. dual with Illinois.

Fans that purchased 2011-12 Hawkeye wrestling season tickets AND the VIP Package for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials can pick up the limited edition Dan Gable Olympic bobblehead beginning at 5:30 p.m. Pre-purchased USA Wrestling/Iowa Hawkeye t-shirts will also be distributed. T-shirts will not be available for purchase on site. You must have ordered the commemorative t-shirt in advance.

The United States women’s wrestling team will perform a demonstration from 6:30-6:50. Terry Steiner, head coach of the women’s national team and a 1993 NCAA Champion and three-time All-American at Iowa, returned to Iowa City this week to lead the training session for the women’s national team inside the Dan GableWrestling Complex. In addition to Friday’s demonstration, the national team will also be special guests at the Iowa City and Coralville CVB annual business luncheon Thursday.

Steiner’s group includes 18 athletes expected to compete at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which will be held at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, April 21-22. Tickets to the event can be purchased at hawkeyesports.com and iowacitytolondon.com.
