IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa baseball program has expanded its camps and clinics through the offerings of the newly-created Iowa Baseball Academy.
The year-round training programs, camps and instruction will now be available to youth players ages 5-18. The academy will operate at Duane Banks Field and the Iowa athletic indoor facilities.
Former Hawkeye and current director of baseball operations Brian Furlong will serve as academy director. Furlong played at Iowa under UI head coach Jack Dahm and has owned and operated baseball training facilities since graduating from the University of Iowa.
Dahm, in his 10th year as the Hawkeyes’ head coach, is excited about the opportunity the Iowa Baseball Academy will provide players in the area, across the state and throughout the Midwest.
“Forming the academy will provide a tremendous opportunity for developing players to improve skills, build confidence and learn to play the game the right way,” said Dahm. “It also gives our program a great platform to serve our community, become more involved in charitable organizations and grow interest in Iowa baseball.”
The Iowa Baseball Academy will strive to provide exceptional training programs to enhance player skills while teaching valuable lessons that strengthen the player’s lives. Year-round training programs provide an opportunity for players to build and develop baseball skills, while giving the Iowa baseball program a vehicle to add value to community programs and grow interest in the Hawkeyes.
