Hawkeyes Prepared for Three Straight Road Matches

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa men’s tennis team (7-9, 0-4) continues its spring season this week with a slate of three road matches. Wednesday, the Hawkeyes travel to Lincoln, Neb., to take on No. 57 Nebraska (9-8, 1-3) at 2:30 p.m. (CT). Iowa will then face Indiana (11-10, 3-2) at noon Saturday before wrapping up their road trip Sunday as they take on No. 60 Purdue (14-6, 1-3) at noon.

DIERCKX PICKS UP SINGLES VICTORY
Junior Jonas Dierckx picked up another hard fought victory in singles play against Big Ten foe Penn State. Playing in the No.1 singles slot, Dierckx took down Bryan Welnetz in three sets. After falling in the first set 6-1, Dierckx came back to win the final two sets, 6-4, 6-3. Dierckx currently holds a 9-7 record in singles play, which is the best record on the team. He is 2-3 when playing in the No. 1 singles slot and holds a 7-4 record when playing in the No. 2 singles slot.

FRESHMAN PATRICK EARNING PLAYING TIME
Freshman Dominic Patrick is quietly putting together an impressive rookie campaign. To date, Patrick holds an 8-8 record in singles play. His .500 mark is good for the second-best record in singles play on the team. Patrick has been thriving playing in the No. 5 singles slot, posting an 8-4 record while he is 0-4 playing elsewhere.

HEAD COACH Steve Houghton
Steve Houghton, the dean of Big Ten tennis coaches, is in his 32nd year as head coach of the Hawkeyes. He has compiled a career record of 339-372 (.477), recording the most wins of any coach in Iowa men’s tennis history.
