IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team celebrated another successful season on Friday at its annual team banquet. Numerous individuals were honored while the team looked back on its 21-13 overall record and sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Head coach Lisa Bluder handed out four awards Friday night. Senior Morgan Johnson was given the Best Defender and Coaches Award, sophomore Melissa Dixon was named the team’s Hardest Worker, junior Theairra Taylor earned the Most Improved Award and senior Trisha Nesbitt was named the recipient of the Dr. Christine Grant Leadership Award.
Statistical awards were also given to three student-athletes. Johnson earned the rebounding (256/7.5 per game) and field goal percentage (52.9) awards, sophomore Samantha Logic took home the assists award (217/6.4 per game) and senior Jaime Printy was given the free throw percentage award (92.5).
Iowa’s All-Big Ten honorees were also recognized; Dixon (Sixth Player of the Year), Johnson (second team), Logic (third team) and Printy (honorable mention). Printy and Johnson were also given their Big Ten Player of the Week certificates and Johnson was also recognized for her Capital One Academic-All District selection.
Nesbitt, Johnson, Printy, Logic and sophomores Bethany Doolittle and Kathryn Reynolds earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades this season as well.
