IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa women’s tennis players Ruth Seaborne and Morven McCulloch are recognized in the ITA Division I Women’s Preseason Rankings released Friday.
Seaborne, a senior from London, England, is ranked No. 65 in the ITA preseason singles rankings. She was 13-8 last season while competing at the No. 1 position in Iowa’s lineup. She earned a singles ranking as high as No. 89, and was named team MVP after earning first team All-Big Ten Honors.
Seaborne also teamed with Morven McCulloch, a junior from St. Andrews, Scotland, at the top of Iowa’s doubles lineup. The duo enters 2013 ranked No. 28 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings, and has accepted an invitation to compete at ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., beginning Sept. 28.
Seaborne and McCulloch were undefeated in nonconference play last season and finished the year with a 16-7 overall mark. They reached as high as No. 34 in the ITA doubles rankings, and recorded a win over an Oklahoma doubles team that enters the season ranked No. 4 nationally.
