Q: Where are you spending your summer?
A: I spent about a month back home in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and now I’ll be spending the rest of the summer in Iowa City.

Q: What are doing in Iowa City this summer?
A: I’m taking some summer courses so I will be able to graduate this upcoming May.

Q: Favorite summer activities?
A: Spending time with friends and family and going to a lot of concerts!

Q: Favorite song to listen to in the summer? Why?
A: I don’t think I can pick just one. I listen to a lot of different music and my favorite song tends to vary depending on my mood.

Q: Favorite place to go in your summer city? Why?
A: The mall? That sounds so lame. My hometown is really small and we don’t really have one. It’s nice to be able to hang out at a mall and physically shop rather than order stuff online. Plus, this mall has Sephora, and I have a slight obsession with makeup so it’s perfect for me.

Q: Best thing you’ve done so far this summer?
A: So far going home has been the best thing. This past year was the longest I had ever been away from home, so I missed it a lot. One of my best friends is coming up to Iowa City to visit me. We’re going to Warped Tour in Chicago. I’m really excited for that!

Q: What do you love most about Iowa City summers?
A: Iowa City has a very different atmosphere than Carlsbad. The people and the weather are so different, and it’s fun to be able to live in an area so different from what I’m used to. Also, I love that I have access to all the facilities here. There aren’t very many options in practice and workout facilities back home, so it’s great that I always have a place to practice.

Q: What was your biggest takeaway from last season?
A: I think we proved that we can play with any team out there. We’re not a team that should be taken lightly. Now we know just what we are capable of, and we’re going to work hard and come out strong this upcoming season.

Q: How are you training for next season?
A: I work out and practice almost every day. I’m working on bettering myself in all aspects of the game in order to be at my absolute best for my senior year.

Q: What specific area of your game are you working on this summer?
A: I’m working on everything. Pitching, defense, and hitting. I want to be a versatile player so that I can produce when my team needs me to no matter what the situation is.

Q: What are you most excited about for the upcoming year? Why?
A: I just have a great feeling about this year. We’re going to do great things. I think it’s going to be a blast. However, it’s definitely going to be bittersweet for me. It’s sad that this is most likely the final season of my softball career, but I have a great team and there’s no other group of people I’d rather spend it with.
