Q: Where are you spending your summer?
A: Back home in the Bay.
Q: What are you doing there?
A: I just finished interning for a California state Assemblywoman, and I recently started writing for a sports blog called ChatSports headquartered out of San Francisco.
Q: What does an average day on the job look like?
A: I cover five teams for ChatSports (SF Giants, SF 49ers, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeyes). My editor gives me a topic to write about that pertains to the five teams I cover. To summarize, I get to watch sports, then I get to write about it, you can’t ask for a better job.
The Government job is top secret (sorry).
Q: What is one thing that you have learned from giving hitting lessons?
A: If you’re able to find work that you’re passionate about, it doesn’t feel like work.
Q: Favorite summer activities?
A: I love to rollerblade around the city; I don’t know why people stopped in the 90’s. Haley Hansel and I love going on adventures in San Francisco.
Q: Favorite song to listen to in the summer?
A: Shut Up and Dance by WALK THE MOON. I take the song very literally; I stop talking and just start dancing. Style by Taylor Swift came out in November but it’s my go to power jam.
Q: Favorite place to go in your summer city? Why?
A: Besides AT&T Park, I love going to Pacifica beach. The past couple weeks have been so nice I spotted a couple of whales diving near by.
Q: Best thing you’ve done so far this summer?
A: Sammi, Haley and Whitney surprised me for my birthday earlier this summer. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present. We had an amazing weekend.
Q: What do you miss the most about living in Iowa City?
A: I miss having the whole team close by and having access to the field when ever.
Q: What was your biggest takeaway from last season?
A: We can compete against any opponent when we follow our game plan.
Q: How are you training for next season?
A: Training with the workouts from Coach Walrod, as well as putting some field work with my dad as much as possible.
Q: What specific area of your game are you working on this summer?
A: This summer I have been focused on gaining more muscle. I am also working on developing my range in the outfield and keeping up my arm strength as well.
Q: What are you most excited about for the upcoming year? Why?
A: I am excited to be reunited with the team and I am eager to pick back up right where we left off.
