LAS VEGAS — Former University of Iowa wrestler Tony Ramos posted a 2-2 record Saturday at the 2015 UWW World Championships in Las Vegas.

Ramos, ranked No. 17 in the world at 57 kg/125.5 lbs., won his first two matches before falling to Iran’s H. Rahimi, 3-1, in the round of 16. Rahimi later advanced to the finals to pull Ramos into the repechage, but he lost his shot at bronze by dropping a 6-1 decision to Lachinau of Belarus.

Ramos was participating at the World Championships for the second time. He was also a member of Team USA in 2014. His next chance at a world title is at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials are April 9-10, 2016, in Iowa City, Iowa, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. All-session tickets for the Olympic Trials go on sale Monday, Sept. 14.
