GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Three University of Iowa women’s tennis players earned wins on the final day of competition at the Furman Fall Classic. Freshman Adorabol Huckleby won her first singles match as a Hawkeye on Sunday, 1-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (8) over Margo Taylor of University of Tennessee. Freshman Taylor Tamblyn also won her singles match against Furman University’s Harper Caswell, 7-5, 6-3. Tamblyn finished the tournament 2-0 in her singles debut.
Along with Huckleby and Tamblyn, sophomore Montana Crawford broke into the win column with a straight-set win against Hannah Templeton of South Carolina, 7-5, 6-4. Overall, the Hawkeyes were 3-4 in singles on Sunday against a tournament field that featured six nationally ranked teams, including 2015 NCAA Champion Vanderbilt.
Due to rain, the tournament was moved indoors and third round singles matches were cancelled.
The Hawkeyes return to action on Friday, October 2nd at the Purdue Invitational.
