IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa field hockey juniors Stephanie Norlander and Chandler Ackers were named to the NFHCA’s 2015 All-Regional team. Norlander garnered first team honors for the second consecutive year, while Ackers received second team accolades.
Norlander, a two-time first team all-conference selection and the 2015 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, paced the Hawkeyes offensively this past season. The North Vancouver, Canada, native’s 16 goals in 2015 were a single-season career high. The mark ranked third in the conference and tied for 12th nationally.
Ackers, a native of White Haven, Pennsylvania, earns the first regional honor of her career. A second team All-Big Ten honoree this past season, Ackers has started every game (37) for the Hawkeyes since her sophomore year. Her eight goals this season were a career high. The defender had six assists on the year, marking the second consecutive season she has recorded six or more assists. Ackers notched a pair of two-goal games in Iowa’s wins over Saint Louis and Central Michigan.
The 2015 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Teams will be announced on Monday, Dec. 7.
