IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa national champions Brent Metcalf and Tony Ramos were listed at the top of their weight classes when USA Wrestling announced a special set of men’s freestyle rankings prior to the upcoming 2016 United States Olympic Wrestling Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa, on April 9-10.

Metcalf, a four-time U.S. World Team member and two-time NCAA champion, is ranked No. 1 at 65 kg/143 lbs. Ramos, a two-time U.S. World Team member who has an undefeated record against domestic competition since winning the 2014 NCAA Championships, is ranked No. 1 at 57 kg/125.5 pounds.

Other top ranked wrestlers include Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs (74 kg/163 lbs.), 2012 Olympian Jake Herbert (86 kg/189 lbs.), 2015 World Champion Kyle Snyder (97 kg/213 lbs.), and two-time World medalist Tervel Dlagnev (125 kg/275 lbs.)

Hawkeye All-Americans Daniel Dennis (57 kg/125.5 lbs.) and Bobby Telford (125 kg/275 lbs.) are ranked third and sixth at their respective weight classes.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena hosts the 2016 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials April 9-10. All-Session tickets are $75 for adults, $50 for youth 18-years-old and younger, and available for purchase at the UI Athletics Ticket Office and online at iowacitytorio.com.
