Hanley Named Head Coach at Indiana State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — University of Iowa assistant women’s soccer coach Julie Hanley has been named head soccer coach at Indiana State University.

“I want to thank Julie for her dedicated service to the University of Iowa and the women’s soccer program,” said UI head coach Dave DiIanni.  “She helped me in my transition to Iowa City two years ago and for that I am forever grateful.

“Her commitment to this university, our department, the soccer program, but most importantly the student-athletes, never wavered in wanting the best for each and every individual. We are excited to watch Julie conquer her next challenge as head coach at Indiana State.

“It is a great next step in the ascension of her coaching career. Once a Hawkeye, Always a Hawkeye and we will always be there to cheer her on and support her with this next step in her coaching journey.”

During her four-year stint in Iowa City, Hanley helped guide the Hawkeyes to three of the top win totals in school history. In that same timeframe, Iowa amassed 48 victories, advanced to one NCAA Tournament, three Big Ten Tournaments, and made two Big Ten Tournament title game appearances.

The search for Hanley’s replacement will begin immediately.
