IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa softball team has set its 2018 schedule, UI head coach Marla Looper announced Tuesday. The Hawkeyes are slated to face 10 teams who made the 2017 NCAA Regionals, including two teams that advanced to the 2017 Women’s College World Series.
Iowa opens the season with five tournaments and a midweek doubleheader on the road, traveling to UL Lafayette, Texas A&M, Cal State Fullerton, and Creighton for weekend matchups and to Arizona State for a midweek tilt.
The Hawkeyes begin the home slate against South Dakota State on March 21 before kicking off Big Ten action at home against Michigan on March 23. Iowa hosts Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Purdue and travels to Maryland, Nebraska, Illinois, and Northwestern during Big Ten play.
The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled for May 10-12 in Madison, Wisconsin.
