MADISON, Wisc. — The University of Iowa softball team (15-16, 1-6 Big Ten) dropped game one against the 25th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers (28-5, 5-2 Big Ten) in six innings, 8-0, on Friday afternoon at the Goodman Softball Complex.

Junior Allison Doocy pitched five innings, striking out eight and giving up three earned runs. Doocy has seven games of eight or more strikeouts this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Badgers got on the board first in the bottom of the first. After Wisconsin single and stolen base, a second single through the infield scored the first run of the game.

Iowa threatened with the bases loaded in the top of the third. Junior Havyn Monteer and sophomore Aralee Bogar drew back-to-back walks. Thompson loaded the bases with an infield single, but the Hawkeyes stranded three runners.

The Hawkeye bats remained stagnant for the rest of the game as the Badgers added four runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to force a run-rule.
