HEAR FROM COACH GILLISPIE

“I am very proud of where we are right now, we need to keep playing this way, tomorrow we will have our full staff intact and getting one more out of this series would be great.”

“Schulte made small adjustments at the plate and it came up big when we needed it. Sarah Lehman did a great job in the circle and Abby Lien did a great job behind the plate as well.”

“Bogar was unbelievable at second base, she was not going to get denied at second base, and nothing was getting through her.”

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was knotted at zero through two innings, freshman Sydney Owens notched a hit through the middle in the second inning, and sophomore Ashley Hamilton drew a walk, but both runners were left on.

Iowa threatened in the third, with junior DoniRae Mayhew and freshman Abby Lien both drawing walks, but they were both left on.

In the fifth inning, sophomore Aralee Bogar notched a stand-up double. Mayhew moved Bogar to third on a ground-out, but was left on as both teams headed to the final two innings looking for offense.

Ohio State threated with its second bases loaded situation of the game, but a double play from Bogar to Mayhew got Iowa out of the jam.
