IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Black team defeated the Gold team, 10-4, on the first night of the Black and Gold games.
Maddison Weaver and Marissa Peek hit home runs for the black team. Peek was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Weaver was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Emma Henderson was the starting pitcher for the Black team throwing five innings and striking out four.
Breanna Vasquez was the starter for the Gold team, going three innings and striking out six.
Brylee Klosterman and Riley Sheehy were 3-for-5 for the Gold team. Kalena Burns tallied two RBIs for the Gold.
