IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sophomore Grace Banes and freshman Tristin Doster were named to the 2022 Northern Lights/Southern Nights Invitational All-Tournament Team Monday afternoon. The duo led Iowa to a 3-1 record on the weekend.
The Hawkeyes opened with victories against Eastern Kentucky, 7-2, and No. 24 Liberty, 7-0, on Friday. Iowa added a win against Pittsburgh, 9-4, on Sunday afternoon.
Doster, a Fort Dodge, Iowa, native hit .459 on the weekend while slugging .857. In Iowa’s win over Liberty the freshman hit her first career grand slam in the first inning. She tallied six RBIs and three runs.
Banes, a Kansas City, Kansas, native hit .429 while slugging .615 in the Hawkeyes four games. She notched an RBI in each game for Iowa. In total she had five RBIs and scored four runs.
The Hawkeyes head to San Diego, California on Feb. 18-20 for the Torero Classic, facing South Dakota State, DePaul, UC Riverside, San Diego, and Oregon State.
