Llewellyn Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Redshirt sophomore Luke Llewellyn has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, it was announced Wednesday by the NCBWA.

The Urbandale, Iowa, native is one of five players from the Big Ten Conference included on the midseason list and 62 players nationally. Llewellyn is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 11 appearances this season with three saves.

The right-hander has allowed five runs on five hits and has punched out nine over 11 innings.

The NCBWA will announce finalists on June 8 with the winner being named on June 17 at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. Relievers who are not on the midseason list still have an opportunity to be named a finalist for the award.

Iowa returns to action Friday, facing Nebraska at 7:02 p.m. (CT) at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the first of a three-game series. Friday’s opener will be televised on BTN.
