Fullard, Huckstorf Named to Big Ten All-Tournament Team

OMAHA, Neb. – Two University of Iowa baseball student-athletes – redshirt senior Izaya Fullard and redshirt sophomore Kyle Huckstorf – were named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team, it was announced Sunday by the league office.

Fullard hit .316 (6-of-19) in five games with one double, two RBIs and two runs scored. The North Liberty, Iowa, native had the game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning in Iowa’s 5-4 victory over Purdue in Friday’s elimination game. The second baseman had two multi-hit games in the tournament.

Huckstorf finished with a team-high .400 (6-of-15) batting average with three extra-base hits (double, triple and home run). The outfielder drove in a team-high six runs and four score times. The Wisconsin native was 2-for-3 with a double and solo home run against Penn State before going 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs in the semifinal win over Michigan.

After losing its tournament opener, Iowa won three straight elimination games at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. The Hawkeyes became the first team in tournament history to win two games on the same day when they defeated Penn State and Michigan on May 28.
