Hawkeyes Host Grand View on Wednesday  

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa baseball team will host Grand View on Wednesday at 4:05 p.m. (CT) at Duane Banks Field. Admission is $2.

Iowa brings a 15-3 overall record into the contest, while Grand View is 13-3 overall.

The Hawkeyes are off to their best start since 1939. They have started 16-3 twice (1936 & 1939) and 17-3 once (1939). The 1939 season was the best start in program history, starting 18-3 and finishing 19-5 on the season.

The Vikings hold series wins over Avila University, York College, and Cornerstone University. As a team, Grand View is hitting .332 and its pitching staff has a 4.61 ERA. They are led by Erik Broekemeier, who is hitting .418, and Camden Armstrong and Brook Heinen with 17 RBIs.

The Hawkeyes swept a three-game series with South Dakota State, last weekend. Overall, the Hawkeyes are hitting .294 as a team while averaging eight runs per game. The Iowa pitching staff has a 3.96 ERA.

Redshirt junior Kyle Huckstorf leads the team with a .429 batting average. Fifth-year Brennen Dorighi leads the team with 21 RBIs followed by Sam Petersen and Huckstorf with 18. Redshirt sophomore Keaton Anthony and Huckstorf are tied for the team lead with four home runs and Huckstorf has seven stolen bases.
