Junior Denali Loecker entered from the bullpen with a runner on first and one out in the inning. In the home half of the inning, senior Nia Carter led off with a hard-hit single to left field. The Hawkeyes were unable to capitalize as the tying run was thrown out at home to end the frame.

The Cyclones extended their lead to two as their leadoff batter hit her second home run of the game to start the fifth inning. Iowa State loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the sixth. They were able to bring in three runs to stretch their lead to 7-3.

Iowa got its first two batters on base in the seventh. Junior Brylee Klosterman led off with an infield single followed with a walk to sophomore Tatianna Roman. Diaz came through again with a two-out RBI single.
