Hawkeyes Host UNI For Final Home Game

IOWA CITY, Iowa โ€“ย The University of Iowa softball team welcomes Northern Iowa to Bob Pearl Field on Wednesday for a midweek matchup at 5 p.m. (CT).

 

The Hawkeyes come into the contest with a 30-22 record, while the Panthers are 34-11 and are the regular season MVC champions.

As a team, UNI is hitting .322 and its pitching staff has a 2.23 ERA. They have five players hitting over .300 and two hitting over .400. They are led by freshman Alexis Pupillo who is hitting .431 with 15 home runs. Sophomore Maya Dodge has a team-leading 63 RBIs to go along with 15 home runs and a .424 batting average. In the circle they are led by Samantha Heyer who has a 1.76 ERA and 239 strikeouts over 151.0 innings.

This past weekend Iowa took a three-game series over Rutgers in their final home conference matchup of the season. Overall, the Hawkeyes are hitting .285 as a team and has a staff ERA of 2.45.

Nia Carter leads the team with a .481 batting average followed by Tatianna Roman who is hitting .313. Denali Loecker has a team-leading 40 RBIs with nine home runs. Tory Bennett has a team best 11 doubles.

Carter ranks second in the country with 87 hits and fourth in batting average.
