IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior rower, Abbey Klostermann was named to the 2023 All-District Women’s At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
The Davenport, Iowa, native was a pivotal piece in Iowa’s Varsity Eight which helped the Hawkeyes finish fifth at the Big Ten Championships. Her boat was also the first to win Big Ten Boat of the Week on April 18, 2023. Klostermann and the rest of the squad defeated Kansas, Minnesota, and Oklahoma en route to its first conference honor since May 3, 2022.
Klostermann is studying biology and carries a 3.83 GPA.
With her inclusion on the all-district team, Klostermann advances to the national ballot. To qualify for the distinction, each student-athlete was required to post at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average while seeing action in a minimum threshold of competitions.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 22.
