IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball defeated Southeastern Community College, 19-0, on Friday at Pearl Field in a 9-inning exhibition.
The Hawkeyes used eight different arms in the game. Freshman Jalen Adams got the start and went two innings and allowed no hits and struck out one Blackhawk batter. A different pitcher threw every remaining inning. The pitching staff held SCC to no runs on four hits.
The Hawkeyes’ bats were hot as they scored in six of the nine innings in the game. Freshman Jaylee Ojo led the offense with six RBIs including a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Iowa had a seven-run sixth inning as they were able to extend their lead to 18.
Iowa finished the game with 19 runs on 14 hits and four SCC errors.
The Hawkeyes return to action on Friday September 22 as they host Indian Hills Community College at Bob Pearl Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
