Hawkeyes End Home Fall Slate Undefeated

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team defeated Kirkwood Community College, 11-0, on Sunday afternoon at Pearl Field in a 9-inning exhibition.

Four different Hawkeyes produced RBIs in the game. They scored 11 runs on 19 hits and three Eagle errors. Four Iowa hitters recorded a multi-hit game. Iowa struck in the first inning on an RBI single from sophomore Jalen Adams. Redshirt junior, Amber DeSena went 2-for-3 in the game with an RBI single in the third inning to make it, 2-0. The Hawkeyes broke it open in the fourth on a two-RBI single off the bat of junior Rylie Moss and a two-run home run from sophomore Skylinn Pogue. Iowa plated three more runs in the sixth inning on RBIs from sophomore Echo Mattiello and senior Brylee Klosterman to make it 9-0. Iowa tacked on two runs in the final three innings on RBIs off the bats of sophomore Anna Streff and Mattiello.

Iowa used six different arms in the circle against the Eagles. Freshman Mya Clark, redshirt freshman Kelsey Winters and junior Haley Downe each threw two innings. Each allowed one hit and combined for five strikeouts in six innings. The trio of Andrea Jaskowiak, Maren Judisch, and Jalen Adams went the final three innings allowing no runs on just one hit and struck out five Kirkwood hitters.

The Hawkeyes return to action on Friday September 29 as they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa to play the University of Northern Iowa. First pitch at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
