Hawkeyes Tie Bulldogs

AMES, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team tied Drake, 2-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Cyclone Softball Complex in a nine-inning exhibition. The Hawkeyes finish the fall season with a record of 5-1-1.

Freshman Mya Clark got the start for Iowa in the circle. She went three innings allowing two runs on four hits. Iowa used the combination of Kelsey Winters, Andrea Jaskowiak and Maren Judisch in the circle the rest of the game. They allowed no runs on four hits and struck out three Drake hitters.

Iowa finished the game with two runs on 10 hits. After falling behind, 2-0, early in the game the Hawkeyes got on the board in the fifth inning as sophomore Avery Jackson came home on a single off the bat of Winters. Iowa rallied late and tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI double from senior Sammy Diaz.

The Hawkeyes return to action for their annual Black and Gold Series starting on Thursday October 5th at Bob Pearl Field. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. CT and admission is free.
