IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team fell in game two of a three-game series, 9-1, against Indiana Saturday afternoon at Bob Pearl Field.
Sophomore Jalen Adams (9-10) got the ball for the Hawkeyes in game two. The Hoosiers got the scoring started in the top of the third with a solo home run. Freshman Jena Young put the Hawkeyes on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI single scoring sophomore Avery Jackson to tie the game at one.
Indiana was able to capitalize on two Hawkeye errors in the top of the fourth to retake the lead, 3-1. After a quiet fifth inning for both teams, the Hoosiers added five runs in the top of the sixth on two hits and one Iowa error to extend their lead, 8-1. Indiana added one more run in the top of the seventh to put the game away.
The Hawkeyes finished the game with one run on three hits and had two errors. Indiana scored nine runs, four earned, on nine hits and no errors.
