IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team fell to the University of Northern Iowa, 7-1, on Friday evening at the Bob Pearl Field in a 9-inning exhibition.
The Hawkeyes used five different arms against the Panthers. They allowed seven runs on eight hits and two errors. Junior Jalen Adams got the start and went two scoreless innings allowing just one hit. Freshman Sofia Elliott threw a scoreless seventh and eighth inning.
Iowa took the lead in the bottom of the third on a solo home run off the bat of Mya Clark. The Panthers took the lead, 2-1, in the fourth after two Iowa errors. UNI extended its lead in the sixth scoring five runs on five hits.
The Hawkeyes return to action tomorrow Saturday September 28 for day two of the Big Four Classic. They will face Iowa State at the Buel Field in Des Moines, Iowa. First pitch is scheduled for 5 P.M. CT and admission is free.
