BRADENTON, FL – The Hawkeyes used Jeff Gremley’s RBI single in the seventh inning to pull ahead of the Dartmouth and come away with a 4-3 victory at the IMG Academy.

After surrendering a two-run lead in the top of the seventh, Iowa designated hitter Luis Andrulonis singled to start the inning. Pinch runner Jason White advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and moved to third on a Jim Reid groundout. With a full count, Gremley lined a single to center field to give Iowa a 4-3 advantage.

Dartmouth scored two runs on three hits in the top of the inning to tie the game at three. Seth Emery drove in Jeff Speights on an RBI single to center field off of Iowa pitcher Michael Washburn. Aaron Reasland relieved the right hander and Big Green second baseman Seth Bailey followed with a single to right field, his second RBI of the game.

Iowa scored two runs in the fifth inning. Gremley hit an RBI triple into the right centerfield gap to plate L.J. Mims. Gremley later scored on a sacrifice fly by Hawkeye catcher Kris Welker.

Gremley, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases, crossed the plate in the third inning for Iowa. Dartmouth’s Brian Zurhellen doubled and scored a run in the fourth inning.

Aaron Reasland picked up his second win of the season after allowing one hit in one inning of work. Tim Gudex got the final four outs for his third save of the season.

Austin Seward had his second straight strong outing for the Hawkeyes as he pitched six innings of seven hit ball. The right hander had two strikeouts, while allowing only one run.

Dartmouth pounded out 13 hits in the game and left 15 men on base. Iowa was held to six hits and scored one earned run off starter Josh Faiola. Faiola didn’t get any help from his defense as the Big Green made five errors that led to three of Iowa’s four runs.

The Hawkeyes (5-8) will conclude their eight-game spring trip tomorrow night at 6 p.m. against Army at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, FL.
