RANCHO VALENCIA, CA –

The University of Iowa men’s tennis team was barely edged by Dartmouth, 4-3, Sunday afternoon. The Hawkeyes drop to 9-4 overall.

In doubles, Chaitu Malempati and Bart van Monsjou defeated Steve McGaughey and Dave Waslen, 8-4. J.P. Ritchie and Aaron Schaechterle lost a close match to Mark Brodie and Jeff Schechtman, 8-6, at the No. 3 spot.

J.P. Ritchie went on to win his singles match against Schechtman, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-0. Brett Taylor defeated Raj Shrestha, 6-1, 6-4, at the No. 6 position. At the No. 4 spot, van Monsjou took Mark Brodie into three sets, but was unable to pull off the win, falling 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

The Hawkeyes return to Big Ten action Saturday, March 26 when they travel to Ohio State.
