IOWA CITY – Junior centerfielder Mindy Heidgerken and senior shortstop Stacy May have been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America District 7 Softball Team.
Heidgerken boasts a 3.84 grade point average, which was the fourth-highest out of 12 members selected to the District 7 team. She is majoring in Journalism and Mass Communications along with art. Heidgerken finished the regular season with a .300 batting average with four home runs, seven doubles, three triples and 25 RBI.
May, who has a 3.38 grade point average, is majoring in accounting and physics. She leads the team in batting average (.335), runs (39), hits (60) and home runs (6). May, along with Heidgerken, started all 58 games for the Hawkeyes this season.
