Iowa Men's Golf

DELRAY BEACH, FL – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished the first round of the Spring Break Championship today. After carding a 291 (+7), the Hawkeyes are tied for sixth while Illinois is leading the 14-team field with a score of 277 (-7). The inaugural tournament is being played on the Victory Course at Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach, FL.

Iowa senior Cole Peevler is leading the Hawkeyes in a tie for tenth after shooting a 70 (-1). Sophomore Brad Hopfinger recorded a 72 (+1) and is currently tied at 19th. Sophomore Vince India (74, +3) is tied for 32nd while freshman Chris Brant (75, +4) is in a tie for 42nd. Additionally, freshman Brad George shot a 76 (+5) on the day and is tied for 53rd place.

“I was pleased with our focus on the golf course today,” said Head Coach Mark Hankins. “We’re gaining confidence with each round we shoot, and hopefully that continues tomorrow.”

The tournament will continue with 18 holes tomorrow beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. Fans can follow the tournament at golfstatresults.com.
