Iowa tennis fans will be able to follow members of the Hawkeye tennis team as they blog about the 2010 season . The Iowa student-athletes will discuss the Hawkeyes’ upcoming matches, road trips and what it’s like being a student-athlete at the University of Iowa. Sophomore Ally Majercik is this week’s designated blogger.

IOWA CITY, IA – After two weekends off we are all fired up to get back into competition. Having back-to-back weekends off is unusual, but we’ve taken advantage of it and put in a lot of hours on the court and in the weight room to get ready for our upcoming matches.

We’re headed to Manhattan, KS to take on Kansas State in our first match of the weekend. We’re coming off a win against Eastern Michigan so we’re looking to build on that and keep the momentum going. After K-State we’ll jump in the vans and cruise through the rolling wheat fields of the breathtaking Kansas countryside to play KU in Lawrence. Lawrence is just 30 minutes away from mine and Kelcie’s delightful hometown of Overland Park, so we’re excited to go back and play there. Not many students from our respective high schools attend Iowa, so it will be fun to sport the black and gold and bring some Hawkeye pride to Kansas.

This will also be our first weekend traveling with Coach Dougherty…or should I say Coach Dougherty’s first weekend traveling with us? Needless to say our road trips are always entertaining, and we’re looking forward to our first away matches of the season and competing hard this weekend.
