NORTHRIDGE, CA – The University of Iowa softball team waited through a three-hour rain delay to complete play Saturday afternoon at the Matador Tournament on the campus of Cal State Northridge.

Following a rain-shortened Game 1, the Hawkeyes (8-9) resumed play and fell to Cal State Bakersfield 3-0 in Game 2. The opening game against Saint Mary’s was halted in a 3-3 tie after five complete innings and will be finished at a later date.

Senior Amanda Zust (5-3) suffered the Game 2 loss, allowing three runs on eight hits in the complete game effort. Lindsey Digmann, Taylor Leichsenring and Chelsey Carmody all hit 1-for-3 to lead the Hawkeyes offensively. Carmody added a stolen base and has now hit safely in 11 of Iowa’s last 12 games. The junior has hit .421 with four homeruns, eight RBI and three stolen bases during that stretch.

The Hawkeyes return to action at the FAU Tournament in Boca Raton, FL Mar. 13-18. Iowa kicks off the eight-game trip with a 3 p.m. (CT) contest versus Charleston Southern Mar. 13.
