WAYZATA, MN – The University of Iowa men’s golf team is in eighth place after two rounds of the Golden Gopher Invitational. The Hawkeyes are 19 strokes over par with a team score of 595 while Louisiana State is leading the 11-team field with a 582 (+6). In its sixth year, the Golden Gopher Invitational is being played on the par 72, 7,020-yard Spring Hill Golf Course in Wayzata, MN.
Junior Chris Brant is tied for ninth and leading the Black and Gold after firing a total of 144, even par. The Edwardsville, IL, native recorded seven holes under par, including an ace on the 231-yard, par 3 hole eight during his second round.
Brad Hopfinger is also in the top-15 individually (T12) after a 36-hole total of 146 (+2). The senior carded five birdies on the day. Senior Vince India fired an opening round at even par but ended the day tied for 23rd with a total score of 150 (+6). Junior Barrett Kelpin recorded a 156 (+12) and is tied for 40th while Brad George is tied for 47th. The junior posted a two round total of 159 (+15).
