Iowa Softball to Hold Winter Coach's Clinic

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa softball program will host the 2012 Winter Coach’s Clinic on Jan. 21. The clinic will feature five segments on pitching, defense, offense, strength and conditioning and NCAA recruiting rules.

UI head coach Marla Looper will lead a segment on pitching, sharing her knowledge on pitching from her 16 years of coaching experience. Hawkeye assistant Adrianna Baggetta will lead a segment on defense and fellow assistant Stacy May-Johnson, a current member of the USA Softball National Team, will lead a session on hitting.

The clinic will also feature a segment on softball specific strength and conditioning with UI assistant strength coach Jamie Wynn, and a session on NCAA recruiting rules with a member of the Iowa compliance staff.

The classroom setting of the clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Feller Club Room in the Dale and Marilyn Howard Family Pavilion in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The team practice portion will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the UI Bubble.

Coach registration is $75 (lunch provided) and a high school student (future coach) is $20 (lunch provided) if registered by Jan. 13. The clinic costs are an additional $10 with late registration.
