Hawkeyes Travel to Wildcat Invite

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team competes Friday through Sunday at the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston, Ill. Northwestern University will host the tournament at the Combe Tennis Center. Competition begins Friday at 9 a.m. Draws will be available online by noon on Thursday.

THE LINE-UP
Six Hawkeyes will travel to the Wildcat Invitational. The lineup includes Ruth Seaborne, Shelby Talcott, Katie Zordani, Christina Harazin, Ellen Silver, and Annette Dohanics.

THE COMPETITION
In addition to Iowa, the eight-team field includes Northwestern, Wisconsin, DePaul, UIC, Northern Iowa, Western Michigan, and Oklahoma.

HAWKEYES AT ALL-AMERICANS
Sophomore Shelby Talcott and junior Ruth Seaborne competed at the ITA All-American Championships Sept. 29-30. The No. 58 ranked Hawkeye duo was defeated by Lauren McHale and Zoe DeBruycker of North Carolina, 8-3, in the first round of the pre-qualifying bracket. Seaborne went on to compete in three singles matches, advancing to the doorstep of the ITA qualifying tournament. She topped No. 109 Jordaan Sanford of Baylor and Jessica Wacnik of Boston College before falling to Florida’s Olivia Janowicz.

UP NEXT
The Hawkeyes will head to ITA Regionals Oct. 19-21. The three day competition will take place in Tulsa, Okla., at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
