'Meet the Hawks' Night Set for Jan. 29

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Head coach Marla Looper and the University of Iowa softball team will host the ninth annual `Meet the Hawks’ night Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 6:30-8 p.m. inside the new Indoor Practice Facility. The event is free and open to the public.

The Hawkeyes will hold a light team practice from 6:30-7:15 p.m. allowing fans to get an early look at the 2013 squad. From 7:15-7:45 p.m., there will be interactive stations (fans will be required to sign a participation waiver) and at 7:45 p.m. coach Looper will talk to fans and introduce the current Hawkeyes.

At the conclusion of the program, Iowa coaches and student-athletes will be available to sign autographs.

Iowa softball posters and schedule cards will be available for fans to pick up. Fans will also have the opportunity to register to win prizes, including signed helmets, bats and softballs.

MEDIA NOTE: This event will also serve as “Media Day” for the Iowa softball team. Players and coaches will be available at 5:30 p.m. inside the UI Recreation Building (across from the new Indoor Practice Facility) for interviews. Media members are encouraged to stay to watch the team scrimmage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
