IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa women’s tennis player Ruth Seaborne was named first-team All-Big Ten. All-Conference teams and individual award winners were announced Thursday night at the Big Ten Tournament banquet.
Seaborne, a junior transfer student, has started every match at the top of Iowa’s lineup in her first season on campus. She owns a 13-8 record and is ranked No. 89 in the ITA singles poll.
In doubles action, Seaborne has teamed with sophomore Morven McCulloch to post a 18-5 record at Iowa’s No. 1 position. The duo is ranked No. 43.
McCulloch was recognized as a Sportsmanship Award honoree. The twelve student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Seaborne, McCulloch, and the Hawkeyes are set to take on first-seeded Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals Friday at 9 a.m. (CT). The match will take place at the Varsity Tennis Courts on the campus of Indiana University.
