IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa shortstop Megan Blank earned NFCA All-Region Second Team recognition in the Midwest Region following the 2014 season. It is her third-straight all-region nod, as the junior was named to the first team as a sophomore and the second team as a freshman.
Blank was most recently named First Team All-Big Ten for the third consecutive season and to the conference’s All-Defensive Team. She became the eighth Iowa player all-time to receive first team honors three times.
The Culver City, California native led the Hawkeyes with a .361 batting average, .602 slugging percentage, .452 on-base percentage, 48 hits, 11 doubles, three triples and 25 RBIs. In Big Ten contests alone, Blank owns a .415 batting average, .677 slugging percentage and .506 on-base percentage. She also led the team with 13 multiple-hit games and six multiple-RBI games, had the longest reached base streak (14) and the longest hitting streak (9) of the year.
With her senior season remaining, Blank ranks third in career batting average (.398), sixth in career doubles (43), eighth in career home runs (18), ninth in career RBIs (113) and 10th in career triples.
