KALAMAZOO, Michigan – – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team concluded two rounds of doubles and one round of singles on Friday during the opening day of the Western Michigan Invitational. The Hawkeyes are off to a good start for their final tournament of the fall season, going 5-4 on singles for the day, and 4-4 on doubles.

“Solid first day for us today, we got to see new doubles teams and got some tough matches in singles,” said UI head coach Katie Dougherty. “As a team we want to play better each day and make adjustments for the following day. Looking forward to more opportunities tomorrow.”
Anastasia Reimchen, Zoe Douglas, and Montana Crawford won all of their singles and doubles matches to start off the tournament.
“Today was the first time I played doubles with Zoe this year,” said UI sophomore Anastasia Reimchen. “Overall, I felt like we competed well together as a team in both our matches. We both served effectively and held our service games. In singles, I felt confident throughout the whole match, working on my goals and I had great support from my teammates.”
Tournament action resumes Saturday morning at 8 a.m. (CT).
